HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Houston County Sheriff’s investigators say a man has been arrested and charged after two fires happened at an Ashford home this month.
On the night of June 21, firefighters and law enforcement officials arrived at 5626 Lucy Grade Road after receiving a call about a structure fire. When they arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames.
Shortly after the fire started, investigators discovered Samuel Mitchell Pittman had left the home earlier in the evening. Pittman was located walking down County Road 33 in Ashford the same night. He was detained and transported to the sheriff’s office for questioning. Investigators said he confessed to intentionally setting the house fire that evening as well as another fire at the same location on June 8.
