OZARK, Ala. (WDHN) — The Mary Hill Family Services Center held its first donation sale and was able to raise more than $800 dollars for various programs.

The event was held on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Ozark Technology Center.

A total of $807.75 was raised.

The funds raised will go towards various programs such as the food pantry, the hygiene closet, the clothing closet, and the workforce development program.

All of the items at the sale were free, but a small donation was asked for if someone was able to donate.

Items such as clothes, kitchen items, and household items were displayed.

Mary Hill Family Services Center was able to hold the sale because they had an overstock of items, due to an increase in donations.

“We blew way past our expectation for this donation sale,” Family Support Specialist at Mary Hill Family Services Center, Adam Kamerer said.

One Wiregrass family donated all of the contents in the house to the Center.

Mary Hill Family Services Center donated the furniture from the home to Southeast Alabama Youth Services.

The next event that the Mary Hill Family Services Center will hold will be Scarecrows on the Square, which will be held from October 21st until October 31st.
