SLOCOMB, Ala. (WDHN) — Over the past year, Slocomb has shown signs of growth.
Jacks opened in April during a tough year and it was the first fast-food restaurant in the area.
This year, they welcomed O’Reilly’s Auto Parts.
Mayor Rob Hinson says the community is supporting local businesses and the sales tax is rising.
The next sign of growth Mayor Hinson looks forward to is the Highway 52 expansion.
He believes that will bring in even more opportunities.
“You know having a four lane there a better corridor for better traffic is going to be significant for our town, so we’re looking for opportunities there that we can do along that 52 corridor we’re looking at building our business community,” Hinson said. “We want to be receptive to open growth and I think that’s what we done.”
Mayor Hinson says businesses have also expressed interest in coming to Slocomb.
