DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — New electric charging stations could be coming to the Circle City.

Four electric car charging stations, like the ones already in downtown Dothan could be installed on the south side of Dothan at the James Oates Park, in the playground parking lot. Another two will could also be purchased and installed at Westgate Park, in the Kiwani’s Park, parking lot.

The city of Dothan is applying for a grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs for this project. During Tuesday’s Dothan City Commissioners meeting, officials approved the mayor signing the applications needed to be considered for the grant.

Each of these stations will have the capability of charging 2 cars at a time, giving the city of Dothan a total of six electric car charging stations.
