DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Rip Hewes football stadium is set for phase two of renovations now that the high school football season is officially over.

Earlier this year, Dothan City Commissioners voted to begin renovating the historic stadium by repaving the parking lot, installing new lights, and setting up a video board, all part of phase one.

Now for phase two, we can expect new locker rooms, new concession stands, turf for the field, and more. This is all an effort to represent what Dothan has to offer.

“I think it represents who we are and what we look like in the city of Dothan and the facilities we have to offer our citizens and the use of them,” Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba said. “I think that’s what’s important in the end.”

This next phase will be about $9 million to finish up the renovations, totaling about eleven or $12 million in total.
