DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Christmas holiday will be here before we know it and the Salvation Army is making sure kids in the Wiregrass have a great one with appointments for their angel tree program opening up on Tuesday.

According to Deanne Jones with the Salvation Army, the angel tree program helps provide Christmas gifts for children around the country each year. She said when a child becomes an angel their Christmas wish list it’s shared with local donors in the community to help get them gifts.

Jones said then, the gifts are placed under their Christmas trees. She wants to remind the community this program is only for children 12 and under.

“We do not want the holidays to be an extra stressor on people and that you’re not gonna be able to do it then this is where we come in and help provide that resource for the families and guardians,” Jones said.

To avoid the stress, you can set up an appointment starting on Tuesday, residents wishing to participate are encouraged to call 334-792-1911.
