MONTGOMERY – Montgomery, Alabama – Alabama Secretary of State John H. Merrill today joins fellow members of the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) in reminding citizens that September 2016 is National Voter Registration Month.

Secretary Merrill is working with Alabama’s federal, state, and local leaders to make eligible voters aware of registration deadlines and requirements for the November 8th general election. Since taking office in January of 2015 Secretary Merrill and his team have registered over 300,000 new voters, of which 137,000 were registered using the online voter registration portal.

To register to vote in Alabama, visit: alabamavotes.gov/olvr/. The deadline to register for the November 8, 2016 general election is October 24, 2016.

Get registered to vote. Eligible citizens who are 18 years of age or older may register to vote. Register online today at alabamavotes.gov/olvr/.

Check your voter registration information online. Updating voter registration information is critical for people who have recently moved, changed their name or had their voting rights restored.
