DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Waves of rain and thunderstorms are expected Saturday across the Wiregrass.
A line of storms will move into the region Saturday morning. Strong to locally severe storms will be possible with the initial area of activity. That round of storms will also leave behind a boundary that will likely serve as the focus for more storms throughout the day.
As a cold front approaches, thunderstorms will again intensify. All modes of severe weather are possible, including large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes. The Storm Prediction Center indicates a few strong tornadoes could occur.
The SPC has placed out region in an “enhanced” area for severe thunderstorms today, which is rather significant.
The WDHN First Alert STORM TEAM is monitoring the weather situation. We’ll have updates on-air and on our social media platforms as needed. Please have a good way of receiving warnings today, and know what to do once the warning is issued.
In addition, localized flash flooding could occur Saturday due to numerous rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
