DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Southeast Health is now offering the Pfizer COVID-19 booster shot to those who are eligible.

A statement from Southeast Health said vaccine boosters are available by appointment only, and those who are eligible to receive them can schedule an appointment online.

Southeast Health requests people must have received their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine at least six months ago, be age 65 and older, or be 18-and older with underlying medical conditions, work or live in a high-risk setting, or be 12 and older with a compromised immune system.

According to Dr. George Narby, the Chief Medical Officer at Southeast Health said those who have received the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines continue to have strong protection against severe COVID illness.

“That means things like hospitalizations and death,” Dr. Narby said. “Delaying your booster or if you are not eligible for a booster. That is not necessarily a cause for great concern.”

Southeast Health asks anyone who is has a scheduled appointment to bring a Photo I.D. and if they didn’t receive their prior vaccines from Southeast Health, to bring a vaccination card showing the two prior Pfizer vaccine doses.

According to Southeast Health, both COVID-19 vaccines and boosters are being given on the second floor of the doctor’s building. Individuals are asked to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled appointments.
