HEADLAND, Ala. (WDHN) — On Thursday, Spectracare held a prescription drug take-back on the square in downtown Headland.
Employees took in prescribed drugs that were unused or expired. Medicine included supplements, vitamins, pet medicine, ointments and more.
In return, they provided snow cones and free giveaways to the community.
Spectracare prevention presenter Jalyn Harrison explained the significance of holding a drug take-back, especially during National Drug Prevention Week.
“We’re trying to help out in the community to prevent substance abuse. 70% of people over the age of 12 who misuse prescription drugs get it from their family and friends,” Harrison said.
If you missed the event, there’s a big drop box at the Headland police department.
