ATLANTA, Ga. (WDHN) — The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) has confirmed a case of orthopoxvirus in a metro Atlanta, male resident with a history of international travel.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is doing confirmatory testing to determine if this is the monkeypox virus.

DPH is conducting contact tracing and will continue to monitor this individual.
