JACKSON COUNTY, Fla (WDHN) — A 21-year-old man is facing a murder charge after a Cottondale shooting turned deadly.
On Thursday, September 14, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies rushed to assist the Cottondale Police Department on Faney Street in Cottondale after receiving reports of shots being fired.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, when authorities arrived, they found one victim dead and were told the suspect, Domenico Cerone Collins, had fled the scene.
Deputies say they immediately established a perimeter and began searching for Collins, who was found a short time later walking down a nearby road.
Collins was arrested and charged with an Open Count of Murder.
The investigation is ongoing.
