UPDATE: (May 11, 2:21 a.m. CST.) — Two people are dead after a car crash at the intersection of John Pitts Road and Pinetree Road around 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 57-year-old Panama City woman and her two passengers driving in a Buick were rear-ended by a Dodge Challenger.
Troopers said the impact sent the Buick off the road, forcing it to collide with a power pole.
The Challenger also went off the road into the adjacent field and caught fire.
The driver of the Buick and her 73-year-old passenger died from their injuries. A 9-year-old child, also in the car, sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the Challenger, a 23-year-old Tennessee man, had minor injuries.
Troopers say he was traveling at a high rate of speed when he collided with the other car.
BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) — The Bay County Sheriff’s Office said a two-vehicle crash caused a car to become engulfed in flames Tuesday evening.
BCSO officials said the accident happened on John Pitts Road near Pinetree Road. John Pitts Road was closed down as a result.
Local EMS responded to the scene, and The Florida Highway Patrol will be conducting an investigation.
Law enforcement asks motorists to avoid the area.
