A single-vehicle crash at 1 p.m. today, July 27, has claimed the life of a Newville teen.
A 15-year-old was killed when a 2014 Chevrolet Impala driven by Jeremy Terrill Carruthers, 27, of Abbeville ran off the roadway and struck him in the teen’s yard. The teen was pronounced dead at the scene by Henry County Coroner Derek Wright.
Carruthers, who was not injured, was charged with Murder and transported to the Henry County Jail with a $500,000 bond.
The crash occurred on Henry County 73 three miles north of Headland. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
