Town of Black receives a hefty amount of money for road improvements

GENEVA COUNTY (WDHN) — The town of Black along the Geneva/Holmes County line was awarded $250,000 from the Alabama Department of Transportation to resurface five roads.

The annual grant program was created under the Rebuild Alabama Act. North Adolph, Watherly, Hathaway, Curtis, and Clay streets will be resurfaced with the funds this year.

“We haven’t had any repaving since the ’80s. This money will go a far way in finding a permanent,” Mayor Maxine DeBord said.

The town of Black Roads is one of 31 projects statewide selected for funding by Gov. Ivey.
