(WDHN) — Ken Brooks, a native of Griffin Georgia, went down to Panama city Sunday to celebrate the holiday with his sister — a holiday that will be memorable to them both.

“My sister was getting married and she was having a beach wedding so I went down to walk her down the aisle on the beach,” Brooks said.

Brooks said his four-hour trip down there was easy until he got into the beach area.

“Down there were a lot of people on the beach everybody’s wanting to get away and have a vacation and stuff,” Brooks said.

Deborah Covington, who lives in Panama City, spent her holiday away from the tourist spot by going to Atlanta.

“So our plans for this weekend was going to the Stray kids’ concert in Atlanta Georgia and it was canceled, we spent the weekend over there and we’re heading home,”. Covington said.

Brooks and Covington hit the road early before 10 a.m. and although they are heading opposite ways, both say traffic hasn’t been a problem this fourth of July.

“I think the inflation on gas prices have everybody maintaining themselves and having a party at the house,” She said.

“I know I’m keeping a better eye on gas prices and going to spots with a better deal,” Brooks said.

While you’re trying to get home and kick your feet up, be mindful of the speed because police are out which could ruin your weekend before the work week begins.
