HENRY COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — A Headland man died and another was taken to the. hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Henry County on Saturday morning.
The victim has been identified as Brian Stephen Smalley, 58 of Headland.
The crash happened just after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection near Henry County 65 and Henry County 176. Officials say Smalley was fatally injured when the 2017 Kia Soul he was driving collided head-on with the 2015 Ford Taurus driven by Mercedes Durr, 26, of Midland City. Durr was injured and transported to a hospital in Dothan for medical treatment.
This crash forced officials to close the intersection for several hours as ALEA Troopers investigated the case and cleared the scene. The roadway is now back open for drivers in the area.
Initially, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, but then they turned over the scene and investigation over to ALEA Troopers.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating this crash.
