DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Over 4,000 meals were served to veterans and their families today at the Veterans Day Food Truck event in Dothan.

18 food trucks were at the event that offered a variety of food for everyone.

This event was a way to honor those who have served in the military. The event also featured the Dothan High School color guard presenting the colors, while also enjoying a fly-over from a Huey helicopter.

The event was held by former Dothan mayor and Charmain Of The Board of Dothan City Schools Mike Schmitz and his family in the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet parking lot.

“Well we are so blessed to live in the Wiregrass,” Schmitz said. “Where we support our military, we love our soldiers, the men and women who served and their families. Hopefully, we put our arms around them not just today, but every day.”

Schmitz also says to thank veterans for their service not just on Veterans Day, but whenever you get the chance.
