DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — While you’re out having fun at the National Peanut Festival, it’s important to recognize those who are behind the scenes – as most workers you see are doing a week-long job without getting paid.

“And it does take so many volunteers that we don’t realize in every single division and department so there are many volunteers giving their time and hours out here helping to make this possible,” Linda Mitchell said.

Michelle McClain and Linda Mitchell have been a part of the festival for at least a decade working in the exhibits building.

The peanut festival experience is what keeps them coming back.

“From the first year, it was just amazing how friendly everyone is down from the volunteers to the people who come visit us every year the atmosphere is just wonderful,” Michelle McClain said.

Volunteers say if you want to help with next year’s fair contact National Peanut Staff because you will be used for sure.
