ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — In August of 2005, Hurricane Katrina devasted much of southern Louisiana, with New Orleans being in the center of the storm’s pass as it made landfall as a category three hurricane.
Thousands of residents remained stranded without water or electricity for weeks. Many opted to leave their home and move.
Haroyln Benjamin was one of those who picked up what she had left and decided to live somewhere else, that place happened to be Enterprise, Alabama.
Benjamin had family here in the Wiregrass and cited that as the main reason she moved to the area.
Since she has used her story to inspire people every day.
On the first Monday of every month, Benjamin is featured on Wake Up Wiregrass on a segment named “Motivational Monday.”
Her prior visits on the show detailed her struggle with a condition called myasthenia gravis, a condition that continues to impact her today.
