DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan’s beach, better known as Water World, finished the year with some record-breaking numbers.
According to Allison Hall, Director of Leisure Services for the city of Dothan said, during the summer season, Water World had over 77 thousand guests enter its doors. The most attendance the water park has had since the early ’90s.
The park also finished the year in the black for its operating budget, meaning they were able to cover all expenses including staffing. Hall said they believe this record-breaking year is due to the new amenities the park has to offer.
“That shows that we want this to be a valuable member of our community for the next 40-years,” Hall said. “This is something we think will continue to attract our locals continue to attract everyone in the wiregrass area.”
Hall tells WDHN, Water World isn’t done growing yet. During this year’s off-season, they plan on upgrading the concession stand in order to add more food options. They also want to bring in more cabanas and completely re-do the 40-year-old bathrooms on the ground.
