DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — On Saturday evening, the Wiregrass Angel House paid tribute to homicide victims here in the Wiregrass.

September 25 is the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims.

Wiregrass Angel House held a tribute service in downtown Dothan with many victim’s family members and loved ones in attendance.

The memorial featured songs, prayer, and a message from a local speaker on what this loss means for victims’ loved ones.

“It’s such an important day because we need to remember all these people, first of all, we need to remember our loved ones and the pains caused by these actions and the lives that were altered completely by these decisions,” guest speaker Emmett Massey said. “And it’s so important to remember these loved ones and these relationships. Those things are things that we treasure for the rest of our lives.”

The service this evening was to remind everyone of those who were lost in recent history, and some many decades ago, but their memory will not be forgotten.
