DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — While many shoppers try to get all their shopping done before the holidays begin, some wait till the very last minute.

On the final days before the holidays, stores are packed out with customers who are trying to snag those last-minute deals.

“I tried the whole early shopping, but it seems that I still buy last minute anyhow and I’ve caught myself overshopping, but it’s just last minute things that I’m wanting to pick up,” Shopper, Krista Bowman said. “Just due to working a lot and not having time to get everything I need.”

“We were supposed to be out of town but that trip was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances,” Shopper Marteen Lewis said. “I was sitting at home and I said why not go get a couple more items.”

Despite the craze of online shopping, the doors at the Wiregrass Commons Mall are being flooded with last-minute shoppers, shopping for those last-minute gifts.

Tati Barrett-Evans has been an employee at nine different stores in the mall, and though the stores aren’t as packed as they used to be they are still meeting the large goals they’ve set for themselves and seeing those eleventh-hour shoppers.

“We’ve larger sales goals for sure, but also we’ve been making those goals, but I’ve noticed that shoes and jewelry are definitely the gifts for this year,” Wiregrass Commons Mall Store Manager, Tati Barrett-Evans said.

The Wiregrass Commons Mall will be open on Christmas Eve until 6 p.m. for anyone looking to get any last-minute gifts.
