DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Alabama Kidney Foundation held its annual Wiregrass walk at Dothan Kiwanis park Saturday morning.

The walk is a fundraiser that raises money to help local kidney patients with daily needs like transportation and medication.

After missing out on the past two years due to the pandemic, it was also a time just to get out and have some fun, by enjoying music, food, and games, and participating in a team-T-shirt contest to win prizes.

Lisa Baity the organizer said the Wiregrass community has been supportive of this event for nearly a decade.

“The goal is 96,000 dollars it has never been that high before when we started 9 years ago the goal was 45,” She said. “Last year they did 98 and now we are trying to blow that out of the water and hit about 100 thousand.”
