DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The World of Work program is back now for its 6th year, after last year having to provide the program virtually.
WOW helps high school students find out what they want to do as a career.
Companies that participate in this program bring an interactive activity for students to get a hands-on feel as they learn what they will be doing in certain careers.
Each participating company gives students a glimpse at what that profession is about, and also shows the various opportunities available to them in the Wiregrass.
“They don’t know what is available here, they don’t even know what careers are available,” The World of Work Program Director, Melanie Hill said. “So its really letting them see that and letting them see that local junior colleges can help them get their in some ways and universities. Whatever they want to do they can come back to our area and get a job.”
The World of Work program had 4,600 high schoolers go through the program in 2020 and they are hoping to have more students and companies take part in 2022.
