WIREGRASS, Ala. (WDHN) — If you and your family are looking for Memorial Day Weekend events in the Wiregrass, look no further! Below is a list of events across our area.

Dothan/Houston County:

  • Landmark Park Family Camp Out Day: Beginning Friday, May 27, at 4 p.m. through on Sunday, May 29. This camping adventure for families features a night walk through the park, hay rides, s’mores, Nerf War, Water Balloon Battleship, and of course camping in tents. The fee for the campout is $20 per person for members and $25 per person for nonmembers. Registration with payment is required to secure your spot and can be made online at www.landmarkparkdothan.com or calling (334) 794-3452.
  • Memorial Day Murph Challenge on Monday, May 30th. Location: 3850 W Main St, Dothan, Alabama. This event is put on by Crunch Fitness and features fitness challenges like a 2 mile run, 100 full ups, 200 push ups. Fastest male and female win a prize. Proceesds will go to a local veteran-supporting group, per Crunch.
  • Taylor Military Appreciation Outdoor Festival and Concert on Saturday, May, 28. Location VFW Post 3073 1426 Taylor Road, Dothan. The opening ceremony is set for 9:30 a.m.


  • Memorial Day Flags Display at Grace Place Church. Location: 5730 Shellfield Road. Flags are already on display (since May 23). You will have until Tuesday, May 31 to send the homage to our fallen soldiers.

Dale County:

  • Sunset Memorial Park’s Annual Wiregrass Memorial Day Ceremony: Location: 1700 Barrington Road, Midland City. Sunset Memorial Park will hold its Annual Wiregrass Memorial Day Ceremony Monday, May, 31, at 10 a.m. The ceremony pays tribute to our fallen heroes and the sacrifices they have made for our freedom.
