COTTONWOOD, Ala. (WDHN) — The high school football season is winding down and those final playoff spots are up for grabs.

Entering week nine, the fourth seed in Class 2A Region Two was down to three final teams: Cottonwood, Geneva County and Abbeville.

Geneva County and Cottonwood faced off tonight in the Game of the Week.

Cottonwood had a simple road to the playoffs, win and earn a spot in the playoffs for the first time in eight years.

However, if Geneva County came out on top, that would have forced a three-way tie between the two and Abbeville.

The Bears are playoff bound for the first time since 2014 with their 32-28 victory over the Bulldogs.
