WIREGRASS, Ala. (WDHN) — 4 teams across the Wiregrass are trying to join 6 others who have already punched their tickets to the second round of the high school baseball playoffs.
Headland defeated Greenville in convincing fashion 11-1 to advance to the second round.
Geneva defeated Hale County 15-0 in just 5 innings of work to advance.
Cottonwood got a chance to advance after Pike Liberal Arts School was forced to forfeit game one of the best-of-three series due to a pitch violation. The Bears, however, would fall to the Patriots 9-2, so Cottonwood’s season comes to an end.
Slocomb forced Bibb County to a third game on Saturday, but the Redtops fell on the road to the Choctaws 21-1. Slocomb’s season comes to an end.
Speaking of playoffs, it has been announced that Enterprise will travel to play Mary G. Montgomery to open the first round of the 7A playoffs. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Friday.
