OZARK, Ala. (WDHN) — Happy National Signing Day to those who celebrate, and oh boy is it a great way to hop into the holiday season.

At Carroll High School in Ozark, star linebacker Karmelo Overton who committed to play at Memphis earlier this year has put the all-important ink to paper, signing to play for the Memphis Tigers in the fall.

Overton was a part of 121 tackles for the Eagles this year

He had 13 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, and an interception.

Overton also represented the state in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game.

He had 19 offers, but from the start, he felt Memphis was the right spot for Overton.

“Through thick and thin. Throughout my offseason. Through everything I have been through they have always been there for me, they always kept it real,” Overton said. “They like my physicality and my speed and the way I move compared to other players. I gotta good IQ, as far as reading a play and reading where the ball is at.”

Overton says that he will stay a part of the front seven at middle linebacker, but don’t be surprised if you see Karmelo move around a bit.
