COFFEE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Many High School football teams including New Brockton and Elba joined around 800 people Tuesday at the Coffee County Farm Center to hear college football great Tommy Bowden speak during the Wiregrass Men of Valor’s workshop service.
Tommy was seen taking pictures with fans and getting to know everyone he could. He said it was his late father Bobby Bowden who set the example for him to lead younger minds.
“My father was a great who passed away about a year ago yesterday but left me a great legacy as far as the influence that a coach has and then the need we felt for a Christian influence,” stated Tommy.
“You’re trying to put them in a position to make good decisions. And I really felt like the balance, and the blend of Christianity, commitment, accountability, responsibility, discipline, sacrifice, and teaching those character builders to make good decisions to young people was really important.”
