ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — Eight Wildcats signed their National Letters of Intent on Wednesday.
Enterprise High School held a signing day for students taking their athletic careers to the next level.
“I’m just extremely blessed,” University of Montevallo soccer signee Matthew Sheahan said. “I’ve been working for this my whole high school career. This is what you work for. This is what you dream for. It’s just a nice day to see all the hard work come to fruition.”
Friends, family and teammates sat in the Performing Arts Center as the athletic director and coaches shared what makes these athletes special.
Among the signees were five members of the volleyball team, two soccer players and a mascot.
One volleyball player said it meant a lot to her to share the stage with so many of her teammates.
“It just shows that we all had dedication from the start,” University of West Alabama volleyball signee Mya Carter said. “We all wanted to move on and take what we learned from Enterprise High School volleyball program, and we wanted to take it even to the next level.”
The athletes applauded Enterprise High’s dedication to athletics and believes EHS has prepared them to perform well at the next level.
Another volleyball player said having this opportunity is really important to her.
“To know that I had a coach that was looking at me and saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself, makes me feel good,” Lurleen B. Wallace Community College volleyball signee Kamira Cooper said.
With graduation coming up in May, the athletes say they’re looking forward to getting to work in college.
They shared what stood out to them about their schools.
“I love the coaching staff and I love the campus,” Sheahan said. “I love the culture there. We’re there to win. We’re not there to play around so I was very happy about that.”
