ASHFORD, Ala. (WDHN) — Ashford has hired a familiar face to baseball fans in the Wiregrass to be its next baseball coach. Jon McLain will be the new head coach for the Yellowjackets.

Mclain is a Dothan High School graduate and has served on the coaching staff at Houston Academy, Wicksburg, and Northview.

McLain was also the head coach at Dothan High before it consolidated, where he led the Tigers to the second round of the playoffs.

Coach McLain will take over an Ashford team that went 8-11 last season and will look to turn that around.

“Really excited,” New Ashford coach, Jon McLain said. “I am looking forward to this summer getting back in the weight room and getting on the field throwing bullpen. Trying to bring a nice product and a positive environment for the kids, the coaches, and the parents.

Coach McLain is known for his pitching expertise and will look to focus on pitching and defense this upcoming season.
