SKIPPERVILLE, Ala. (WDHN) — G.W Long’s Austin Kerchner will suit up for the Huntingdon Hawks football program in the fall.
Kerchner played defensive end and on the offensive line for the Rebels, but does not yet know what role he will have on the Hawks’ team.
His senior year he had 70 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, two sacks and an interception.
He believes tough competition G.W. Long faced helped prepare him for college ball.
The future Hawk says he has known since his first visit that Huntingdon is the place for him.
“When I went up there I was like, ‘This is where I want to be,'” Kerchner said. “It’s that feeling you get when you know what you’re going to do there. That’s what I felt when I got there.”
Kerchner is also a member of G.W. Long’s soccer team.
He says it helps with his speed and playing goalie helps his reaction time which benefits him on the gridiron.
