HARTFORD, Ala. (WDHN) — Geneva County’s Karoline Striplin was presented with the prestigious
Miss Basketball award.
Each year, it’s given by the Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) to the best girls high school basketball player statewide.
The 6’3″ senior is the first recipient ever from Geneva County High School.
Representatives from the Alabama High School Athletic Association, the ASWA and Alfa Insurance attended the ceremony.
Striplin tells WDHN winning this award has been a lifetime goal.
“I was hoping I wouldn’t cry my eyes out when I was doing my speech just because I was so thankful and just overwhelmed with gratitude,” Striplin said. “I don’t know just really excited, just kind of put it into perspective when everyone was talking about you’ll look back at these days”
Karoline graduates on May 24 and quickly heads to Knoxville on the 30th to start her division one career with the Tennessee Volunteers.
