DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Houston Academy’s Onika Sukoff signed to play volleyball for Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania.
Sukoff describes signing as a dream come true as playing at the next level has been her goal since she was young.
The defensive player is no stranger to new places.
She has lived in several places in the southeastern United States as well as Chile, but never up north.
Nevertheless, after sending out many applications, she knew Susquehanna was the place for her.
“It really has a family environment and I really wanted that because I’ve gone to small schools all my life and I really enjoy that kind of environment,” Sukoff said.
Her volleyball coach from her school in Valdosta, Georgia made the two and a half hour drive to celebrate Sukoff on Monday.
Sukoff was especially grateful as she says that was where she established her love for the sport.
