JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (WDHN)- Opp Softball fell in the Class 3A state finals 14-4 to Plainview. The Bobcats finish the season as State runner-up in 3A,
In the Thursday night game against Plainview, the Bobcats got off to a hot start with a double from Amaya Womack, the next batter then they drew a walk. But Womack was thrown out at second during the play. The very next batter Caroline Courson hit a two-run home run to give the Bobcats the early 2-0 lead.
The Bears would answer in the bottom of the first with four runs of their own to make the score 4-2 Plainview after one inning of play.
That lead would extend to 6-2, however, the Bobcats would cut the deficit by one, making the score 6-3, but the Bear’s offense would be too much.
Plainview wins 14-4 after 5 innings of play. They are the Class 3A state champs and the Bobcats instead go back to Covington County as state runner-up.
Congrats to the Bobcats on a state runner-up finish.
The following Bobcats were named to the all-tournament team:
