HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Providence Christian football was wet behind the ears last season, going four and six with just two seniors to lead the flock.

But the Eagles have more in store this season, with 10 returning starters on offense, and nine on the defensive side.

The birds of Providence take the field with 12 seniors and that’s why veteran Coach Kenny Keith thinks the eye of the eagle is going to be sharper this season.

Coach Kenny stated, “It’s always great to have seniors. When you have seniors it just makes a big difference. You know, they know the drill, they’re older, or they’re more mature, they’re stronger and they’re leading. We got some really good leadership out of our two seniors last year; they were good guys but there’s only two of them so, we’re looking for bigger and better things.”

Providence will start the season with a jamboree versus Highland Home in week zero, but truly pop off at Ashford on August 26th for a region matchup. Starting a new season with a team the Eagles have never faced before.

With now nine teams in 3A region 2 the Eagles are certainly strapped for a winning season.
