DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The countdown until the first pitch is thrown in high school and college softball this season is nearing.
Houston Academy, reigning 3A champs gathered more than 250 up-and-coming softball players to help with the basics at James Oates Park on Saturday.
Houston Academy went 48-13-1 last season.
They partnered with Dothan Leisure Services to provide kids from all over the Wiregrass with some tips and tricks to improve their softball game.
From drills that can be done on the field at practice to drills that could be done in the comfort of their own home. The pitchers got the early start and then the rest of the position players got their chance to put those drills into action.
