DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The second annual Turkey Classic basketball tournament tipped off at the Dothan Civic Center on Monday.

Eight teams from the Wiregrass and surrounding areas are competing to try and punch their ticket to the Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic in December.

Malone and Cottonwood got the tournament started. Cottonwood won that matchup 54-30.

The Bears will take on Carroll, who beat Andalusia 59-44, in the semifinals.

G.W. Long fell to Barbour County 54-47.

The Jaguars will play Greenville, who beat Florala 70-60, in the semifinals.

The Bears and the Eagles play at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars and the Tigers face off at noon.

The winners of those games will battle it out for that ticket to the Hoops Classic at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $6 at the door. Funds raised go into the pot that is given back to schools that compete in the Hoops Classic.
