SLOCOMB, Ala. (WDHN) – Slocomb High School’s Chesnee Aplin signed with Enterprise State volleyball becoming the first ever signee for the new volleyball program at the college.

Aplin’s senior year with the Red Tops she had 117 service points, 81 aces, 106 kills, 205 digs and 36 assists.

ESCC President Matt Rodgers reached out to Aplin to offer her one of few scholarships being given out before a volleyball coach is hired.

While she doesn’t know who her new coach is yet that didn’t turn her away from playing with the Boll Weevils.

“I’m very honored to be the first signee,” Aplin said. “I’m glad they chose me to give this opportunity to. I know that they’re going to hire a good coach so it wasn’t difficult to make my decision really.”

Aplin has played opposite and outside hitter and setter for the Red Tops.

She says her willingness to play wherever she is needed is what she’ll bring to the first Boll Weevil team.
