ORLANDO, Fla. (WDHN) — On Saturday the Troy Trojans will kickoff against the UTSA Roadrunners in the Cure Bowl.

This is the Trojans’ first bowl appearance since 2018 and they’ve made it under the leadership of first year head coach Jon Sumrall.

Troy got ten or more wins each season from 2016 to 2018 under then head coach Neal Brown.

Alternatively, from 2019 to 2021 Troy went 15-20 under then head coach Chip Lindsey.

One offensive lineman says playing in a bowl again is surreal as at times he thought he’d never play in one again.

“I’m really just so happy that the seniors that have been here and stuck it out, never left, never quit on us,” junior offensive lineman Jake Andrews said. “They get to go out the right way and that’s hopefully what we can finish tomorrow. We can send them out the right way with a win. That will be something that no one can take away from us.”

The Trojans will try to get the win over UTSA at Exploria Stadium in Orlando at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
