WICKSBURG, Ala. (WDHN) — It was a big day at Wicksburg High School as three Panthers signed with Enterprise State Community College.

Austin Grantham and Hagen Seymour will run cross country for the Boll Weevils and Trenton Ables will play golf for the Boll Weevils.

Each of these athletes are some of the first signees for cross country and golf.

This is the first year Enterprise State is adding these athletic programs.

Surrounded by friends, family and teammates the day was a dream come true for all three athletes.

“I never thought I’d be able to do something like this,” ESCC cross country signee Hagen Seymour said. “If you had come to me when I was young and told me that I was going to get a scholarship to run in college I would have thought you were crazy. It’s just crazy and a great opportunity.”

“I’ve always wanted to run cross country at a higher level and I didn’t think it was going to happen until coach Chris came up to me and offered me,” ESCC cross country signee Austin Grantham.”

“It’s amazing,” ESCC golf signee Trenton Ables said. “We just started a golf team here not too long ago. To be the first one to sign through Wicksburg and to be on the first Enterprise team it’s just a dream come true.”

Seymour, Grantham, and Ables will be joined by two other Panthers turned Boll Weevils: Devontae White will play on the basketball team and Kara Cox on the softball team.
