DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Football coaches from all over the Wiregrass gathered for Coach’s Media Day and Golf Tournament Friday morning.

The event, sponsored by Encore Sports Medicine, allowed coaches to socialize, play golf and talk to media about their upcoming seasons.

For most schools practice begin at the beginning of August.

They shared that they feel much more prepared for this season than last because they don’t have to work around COVID-19 restrictions.

Ahead of Fall ball, many coaches are pleased with what they’ve seen from their teams so far.

“Not worry too much about the winning and losing, but just trying to go every day and try and do the best you can and take care of the things that they can take care of,” Kinston Head Coach Rudy Free said. “There’s a lot of things you can’t do anything about but you can do about the effort and showing up every day and they’ve done that.”

High school football season in the Wiregrass kicks off on August 20.

WDHN will bring you highlights and the season’s biggest plays on The Extra Point every Friday night.
