TROY, Ala (WDHN) — With all the changes that have happened this year, 2020 continues to look different. This year, Troy University is hosting a virtual 5k event where members of Trojan nation can get involved from all over the world.

Troy fans around the world can join together for the inaugural T-Roy’s Virtual 5K before the annual “Battle for the Belt” football game in Mobile. The race is set for Thursday, Oct. 1, until Saturday, Oct. 3, so participants can take part in the event on their own schedule.

The first 300 participants to register will receive a custom T-Roy’s 5K t-shirt from Premier Dodge and all who register by Sept. 28 with get a race bib. Every fan who completes the 3.1-mile race will receive a completion certificate. Awards will be presented to top finishers in different age divisions and winners will also be displayed on the videoboard at The Vet during a 2020 home game.

The entry fee is just $25 per racer and all funds will go directly to the Trojan Warrior Club to benefit Troy University student-athletes.

There are no requirements on where the race has to take place – fans can do so on their treadmill at home, by walking or jogging around the neighborhood or on your favorite running route. Racers can use the Adidas Runtastic Running app or another fitness tracking app to log their time and progress.

To be eligible for prizes, fans are asked to email screenshots of their results to Fans are also encouraged to post their screenshots and photos to social media using the hashtag #RunTROY to be entered to win additional prizes.
