DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The roundabout on Campbellton Highway and Taylor Road is finally open for your daily commute!
The construction on the roundabout started in March and it was supposed to be closed for six months but the work was completed two months earlier.
The roundabout was installed at the intersection due to it being known as a dangerous intersection in the past and it’s also a part of a Honeysuckle extension project that is set to take place soon.
Houston County Commissioner Ricky Herring says it’s a huge relief after traffic was diverted for quite some time.
“This is great that it’s open I’m pleased that it’s open and I know the public is pleased as well and hopefully people will start using it and coming through here and as you can tell traffic is flowing pretty well,” Commissioner Herring said.
In the meantime, lights will be coming to the roundabout. Commissioner Herring says to make sure you go through the area slowly and be mindful of the traffic signs.
