DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Meteorologist Andrew Clarke has your daily walk the dog forecast sponsored by Wet Pets of Dothan!
As expected, the line of showers and storms that moved through our area during the pre-dawn hours weakened as it approached from the west, so we did not see severe weather like our friends to the north and west did yesterday. Even though we’ve dried out from this line as of 9 AM, rain chances are not done for the day, as we can anticipate the development of more showers and maybe even a few storms during the afternoon hours as our cold front makes its way in slowly but surely. These storms could become strong and produce some gusty winds and maybe the occasional damaging gust, but we’re not looking for them to be major severe weather producers. With clouds and rain in place for much of the day, we’ll see cooler high temperatures compared to the last couple days as most locations only top out in the upper 70s.
With all this being said, the only good time today to walk your dog will be from now through about lunchtime, as we can expect more rain and maybe a storm or two after that. If you can’t make it during that time, probably best to just play with your furry companion inside! Have a great Thursday!
