DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Meteorologist Andrew Clarke has your daily walk the dog forecast sponsored by Wet Pets of Dothan!

Yet another hot and humid day with highs mainly in the upper 90s (some lower 100s are not out of the question) and triple digit heat index values/feels like temperatures can be expected to wrap up the work week. Make sure to drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks, and dress in loose-fitting clothing if you plan on being outdoors at any time! Much like yesterday, we’ll see mostly sunny skies and dry conditions prevail through the late afternoon/early evening before scattered showers and storms move in. Some storms could be on the strong to severe side with damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph the main threat; small hail, localized flooding, and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning will also be possible.

With the above in mind, now through the late afternoon/early evening will be the ideal timeframe to take your dog out for a walk. Once again, with hot and humid weather expected, it is important that you take some water along for you and your pup to stay cool; also, you may want to keep the walk short so that you’re not outdoors for too long. Have a great Friday!
