DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Expect light to moderate rain with an embedded thunderstorm or two to continue moving through the Tri-State over the next couple hours. All of us should start drying out by midnight as this complex of showers and storms pushes off to our southeast, with mostly cloudy skies to follow for the remainder of the overnight. Lows tonight will be rather mild once again as most locations only fall into the low to mid 60s. Some patchy fog will be possible area-wide as well right around sunrise.
EASTER SUNDAY FORECAST: A 60% chance for showers and storms is on tap, with much of the activity coming during the afternoon and early evening hours, much like today. Some of these storms could again be on the strong to marginally severe side, with damaging wind gusts and large hail possible. A Marginal (level 1/5) risk for severe weather is in place area-wide to account for this potential from the Storm Prediction Center. With all this being said, make sure to have a backup plan in place in case you need to bring any outdoor plans indoors! We’ll top out right around the 80 degree mark for highs.
We’ll begin a new work week on Monday with another round of mid 60s. Showers and a few storms will again be possible, mainly during the first half of the day as a cold front pushes through the region. Once this front leaves us behind, we can look forward to clearing skies for the afternoon as dry post-frontal air starts to settle in. We’ll take a trip up to the upper 70s for afternoon highs.
Tuesday will feature a return to pleasant weather as sunny skies prevail! We’ll begin the morning much cooler in the low 50s and make it up to the mid 70s by the second half of the day.
We can look forward to relatively similar conditions (mostly sunny skies) for Wednesday, but with slightly warmer temperatures. After beginning the day right around 50 degrees, we’ll quickly return to the upper 70s/low 80s for highs.
We’ll see more of the same temperature-wise on Thursday as we climb from the upper 50s in the morning to the low 80s by the afternoon under a mix of sun and clouds.
As we wrap up the work week on Friday, we can anticipate relatively similar temperatures as we trek up to the low to potentially mid 80s once again from the upper 50s early in the day. The cloud cover from Thursday will be gone, giving way to lots of sunshine!
We’ll keep these conditions around to kick off next weekend as well, with Saturday featuring another round of mostly sunny skies and very warm temperatures with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the upper 50s and low 60s.
