DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Today will have an 80% chance for showers and storms throughout the day as a cold front pushes into the Southeast. Storms are expected to stay below severe limits, but a couple could be on the strong side, with gusty winds and heavy downpours possible. High temperatures will be on the cool side with clouds and rain in place for much of the day as most locations reach the low 80s at best.
The cold front will push through our area early Thursday morning. We’ll start off the morning mild in the mid 60s with a couple showers possible along the frontal boundary. The afternoon hours will be dry as the front leaves our area behind. We’ll warm up to the low 80s again after starting out the morning mild in the mid 60s.
Cooler and drier air streaming in post-front will lead to below average temperatures on Friday. Expect to start the day in the low 50s and only make it up to around 80 degrees during the afternoon as we wrap up the work week with the return of sunny skies.
Saturday and Sunday will both begin rather chilly in the upper 40s and low 50s but end up seasonable with highs reaching the mid 80s under sunny to mostly sunny skies.
Our next front will push in on Monday. Moisture content ahead of this one won’t be as impressive, so we’re going to go with only a 20% chance of rain for now. Highs will drop a bit to the low 80s.
Tuesday will be much cooler behind the second front, with afternoon highs only in the low 70s. A shower or two will be possible during the morning before we dry out for the second half of the day.
