DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Tonight will be extra warm with most folks staying around 70 degrees.

Thursday is going to be another exceptionally hot and possibly record-breaking day with afternoon highs around 95 in some places. We won’t rule out an isolated shower.

Friday will be another warm one with morning lows starting in the upper 60s and afternoon highs in the low to middle 90s. There is a 20% chance for showers during the later afternoon and evening hours.

Saturday and Sunday have a 60% and 70% chance for showers and storms respectively. Morning lows will still be in the upper 60s and low 70s, but our afternoon highs should drop to the more seasonable middle to upper 80s on Saturday and middle 80s on Sunday.

Monday has a 50% chance for showers with morning lows in the upper 60s and afternoon highs in the middle 80s.

Tuesday and Wednesday will both have a 30% chance for showers and highs in the middle to upper 80s.

Tropical Development in the Gulf of Mexico seems highly unlikely. High pressure over the Atlantic and a Saharan Dust Layer over the Caribbean/Gulf of Mexico will likely impede the development of any organized areas of low pressure or areas of convection. The Saharan Dust will probably make it to the Gulf Coast, but its impacts on our air quality will be limited because of the shower activity this weekend and early next week.
